CanWest MediaWorks has expanded its FPinfomart Mobile service to make it accessible by Rogers Wireless customers. The service allows users of wireless devices to receive news stories from the National Post, Montreal Gazette, Ottawa Citizen, Calgary Herald and Vancouver Sun, as well as profiles of every publicly-traded company in Canada. When the service launched in 2005, it was available exclusively to users of Blackberry devices. “With FPinfomart Mobile, our business customers will have unparalleled access to news and business information from around the world, helping them stay one step ahead of the competition,” said John Boynton, chief marketing officer at Rogers Wireless.

The Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion has constructed a new website at <http://www.notgonnakillyou.ca> as part of a public education campaign that encourages young people to eat healthy foods and be more physically active. The site contains information aimed at young people on ways to do this. “We know that 28 per cent of Ontario children and youth are overweight or obese and this will have a serious impact on our health care system,” said Health Promotion Minister Jim Watson. “That’s why we’re launching a campaign that speaks directly to young people aged 12-15 about the importance of healthy eating and active living.”

Rogers Omni Television of Toronto will begin offering multilingual video news updates on its website at <http://www.omnitv.ca/ontario> on Nov. 13. The video clips, 60 to 90 seconds in length, will be drawn from the Cantonese, Italian, Mandarin, Portuguese and South Asian editions of the daily Omni News broadcast. “A substantial segment of our audience is Web savvy and has been asking for some time to see Omni News online,” said Renato Zane, vice-president of Omni News. “Viewers are looking for content on their terms, to fit their schedules. We aim to keep our viewers connected and informed with the latest news and events affecting their community, no matter where they are.”
