Rogers launches online video on demand service

Toronto-based Rogers Communications has launched a new service called Rogers On Demand Online. The service offers access to a web-based library of video content, including prime time, day time and specialty television shows, movies, sporting events and music videos. It is available to customers of the Rogers Digital Cable, Rogers Wireless, Rogers Home Phone and Rogers Hi Speed Internet services. "Canadians are looking for their video entertainment needs to be met wherever and whenever they want and they want to share it," said David Purdy, vice-president of television and video product management at Rogers Communications. "Rogers On Demand Online enhances the customer experience by leveraging Rogers expertise in home entertainment and extending the best video experience online. Viewers benefit from a high quality, extremely convenient, robust, anytime, anywhere entertainment experience." The service currently offers approximately 1,500 hours of content, including live streaming of concerts and sporting events. It also includes community and social networking features that allow users to leave comments and ratings, create playlists and share recommendations.
