NEW AUDIO INTERNET SERVICE
By Adnews Staff
CHUM Limited of Toronto and Nuvo Network Management of Ottawa have teamed up with Bell Canada to create custom made "radio programs" to help companies sell their products and services on the World Wide Web. CHUM and Nuvo have formed a company called 3WB to provide the content. Bell will handle the technology. As an example of how the new medium will work, take the case of a car maker with a Web page wanting to give a special marketing push to its trucks. 3WB would create a hot link from the company's Web page to a "program" about car racing or fishing. The video would be accompanied by sound and the program would carry truck commercials. 3WB will do market research for clients and consult with them about program content. CHUM has 20 radio stations, six TV stations, the MuchMusic and Bravo! networks, the Atlantic Satellite Network and a 50% interest in MusiquePlus Inc. Nuvo is a firm that puts together computer networks and helps companies set up commercial operations on the Web. It is a subsidiary of Nextra Technologies Inc. of Mississauga, Ont.
