Maggie's Toronto conducts awareness campaign

Advocacy organization Maggie’s Toronto Sex Workers Action Project has begun an HIV awareness campaign called “Destigmatize: Voices.” Developed by Toronto agencies Function and Plot, the campaign uses spoken word narration to highlight stigmas surrounding the disclosure of an HIV diagnosis. The three executions are accompanied by online materials at <http://www.destigmatize.ca>, developed by Locomotive.

“The spoken-word form allowed us to tell these stories in a way that feels intimate and human, with the community guiding the conversation,” said Eric Richards a director at Plot. “By pairing the words with a visual language that supports them, we hoped to deepen resonance and show how we can all play a part in easing HIV stigma.”
