
Captain Morgan readies signal-free party

Diageo Canada is preparing a promotion for its Captain Morgan rum brand in the form of a one-night event in Toronto. On April 4, the brand will conduct what it describes as the “Ultimate Signal-Free Party” in an underground parking garage. The intent is to encourage attendees to interact with each other rather than their phones. As part of the promotion, the brand has designed a phone case called “Tha Captain’s Case” that completely covers the screen and also functions as a drink coaster.
“Nothing beats the feeling of being there in the moment, with your crew, making memories that don't need a 'refresh' button,” said Nadia Niccoli, head of marketing at Diageo Canada. “Captain Morgan has always been about bringing the fun, but these days we see screens getting in the way. So we're here to change that, one epic night at a time.”
