By Rob Bale
Blue Ant Media of Toronto has entered into an agreement to acquire Thunderbird Entertainment Group of Vancouver. Thunderbird is a production, distribution and rights management company that creates scripted, unscripted and animated programming. Through this agreement, Blue Ant will acquire all outstanding shares of Thunderbird for a total transaction value of $89 million. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026.
“The acquisition of Thunderbird is anticipated to add scale and complementary capabilities that strengthen Blue Ant’s studio business and enhance our earnings and cash flow,” said Michael MacMillan, chief executive officer of Blue Ant. “Thunderbird’s world-class service work and proprietary content creation strengthens Blue Ant’s studio portfolio and fortifies our ability to develop, package and monetize content across multiple platforms, while improving operating efficiency across our combined businesses.”
