LEVI'S SHANK SHUFFLES BACK TO AMERICAS

Levi Strauss & Co. has appointed Gordon Shank, president of the recently-created Americas division. In his new position, Shank will be responsible for the company's businesses in North, South and Central America. Shank, who served as president of Levi Strauss' Asia Pacific Division prior to the move, replaces Robert Rockey, who announced his intention to retire from the company next year. Shank joined Levi Strauss & Co. as a sales representative in the Canadian affiliate in 1974. He subsequently held positions in marketing and sales management, working his way up to vice-president and general manager of the Canadian Levi's business in the mid 1980s. In early 1990, Shank moved to San Francisco where he served as vice-president of marketing in the womenswear division until being appointed president of Levi Strauss & Co. (Canada) Inc. in February 1992. He held that position until June of 1996, when he was appointed president of the Asia Pacific division. Harrod & Mirlin Ltd. of Toronto handle advertising for Levi Strauss in Canada.
