Crull departs Bell Media

Bell Media has promoted Mary Ann Turcke to the position of president. She will be responsible for the company's national television, radio, digital and out-of-home operations. Turcke was most recently group president of media sales, local television and radio. She joined Bell in 2005 as vice-president of customer experience and operations for small and medium business. She became executive vice-president of field operations in 2008.

Turcke takes over from outgoing president Kevin Crull, who departed the position yesterday. Crull joined Bell in 2005 as president of consumer solutions and became president of Bell Media after Bell's acquisition of CTVglobemedia in 2011. He was recently criticized for an attempt to influence CTV news coverage of CRTC decisions.

"Kevin Crull departs Bell with our thanks for his contributions to our customers and shareholders," said George Cope, president and CEO of Bell Canada and BCE. "However, the independence of Bell Media's news operations is of paramount importance to our company and to all Canadians. There can be no doubt that Bell will always uphold the journalistic standards that have made CTV the most trusted brand in Canadian news."
