BCE launches Bell Media

Monreal-based BCE has launched a new business unit called Bell Media after completing its acquisition of CTV. The unit includes CTV and other Bell content assets, including 29 specialty channels, 33 radio stations, mobile broadcast facilities provider Dome Productions, and various websites. Bell Media has also announced a mobile television service that will provide a range of live and on-demand programming from CTV News, TSN, RDS, BNN, MTV and The Comedy Network to users of smartphones and tablets. The unit is headed by Kevin Crull as president. "Our acquisition of Canada's number-one media company leverages our strategic investments in broadband networks and services and enables our promise to deliver the content Canadians want most across every screen: smartphone, tablet, computer and TV," said George Cope, president and CEO of Bell Canada and BCE. "The Bell Media team joins a re-energized Bell executing a strategy to deliver a better customer experience at every level and dedicated to achieving a clear goal: for Bell to be recognized by customers as Canada's leading communications company."
