DECISION IMMINENT FOR TOURISM BUSINESS
By Adnews Staff
Ten agencies are waiting this week to find out who gets the account for the Tourism Alliance for Western and Northern Canada, with a budget between $1 million and $2 million. McKim Communications of Winnipeg pitched the business jointly with Wasserman & Partners of Vancouver. Two Edmonton agencies are going after the business together under the banner Best of the West Tourism Marketing Consortium: Derek Coke-Kerr & Associates and Rose Country Communications. Calgary contenders are Parallel Strategies, FWJ Communications and Highwood Communications. Others on the short list are Vancouver-based Palmer Jarvis Advertising, Cossette Communication-Marketing's Vancouver office, Jake Marks Advertising of Winnipeg and Cooper, Quine and Fraser of Saskatoon. The alliance consists of 18 industry and government partners from the four western provinces and two territories. It was formed last March to increase tourism in Western and Northern Canada through co-operative marketing, product development, research, and technology.
