AIR CANADA KICKS OFF NEW FLIGHTS WITH CHEAP FARES
By Adnews Staff
Starting this fall, Air Canada and its Vancouver-based subsidiary AirBC are going to be filling the western skies with more aircraft taking off for all points of the globe. Air Canada is offering low introductory prices from today until Aug. 25 to get off the ground with a schedule that has new domestic and international flights. Taking a dig at Canadian Airlines International, Air Canada senior vice-president Robert Milton says in a release, "While our U.S.-controlled domestic competitor is relying on highly restrictive weekend fares, Air Canada is putting its money where its mouth is by offering more flights to more destinations important to Western Canadian travellers..." New flights are between Edmonton and Winnipeg; Calgary and Denver, Houston and Frankfurt; Vancouver and San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Honolulu, Maui, Hong Kong and Frankfurt. Air Canada was unavailable yesterday to comment on what advertising and promotion will back the new service. Montreal agency Marketel is Air Canada's global agency, while Wasserman & Partners Advertising of Vancouver is AirBC's agency.
