NBA Canada begins two sponsorship promotions

NBA Canada has recently begun two new sponsorship initiatives. The basketball league will conduct a national promotion in association with fast food chain Manchu Wok until March, timed to coincide with Chinese New Year. During the promotion, Manchu Wok locations will distribute cards containing identification numbers with a purchase. Consumers will have a chance to instantly win NBA-branded merchandise such as jerseys, socks and hats. Employees will also wear co-branded apparel during the initiative. In addition, four NBA teams, the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Toronto Raptors and Washington Wizards will wear special Chinese New Year uniforms. Nine teams will host local Chinese New Year events. The promotion also includes social media activities and digital advertising.

NBA Canada has also begun a promotion in association with fast food chain KFC, which will run until Feb. 26 and is tied to the NBA All-Star game. The promotion includes an augmented reality mobile application that is intended to attract consumers to KFC stores, which are offering special all-star menu items. The promotion also makes use of the NBA All-Star logo on KFC packaging, which, when viewed with the augmented reality application, will enter the consumer into a draw for tickets to the game. This initiative is being supported with broadcast and digital advertising, in-store materials and social media activities.
