Global begins Great Fortune Cookie Quest contest

Toronto-based Global Television has begun a promotion called the "Great Fortune Cookie Quest" in support of the debut of reality program Survivor: China on Sept. 20. During the four-week promotion, one million fortune cookies containing branded messages will be distributed through Manchu Wok restaurants nationally. Cookies will also be distributed by groups of promotional workers in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg and Edmonton. Three cookies contain golden tickets. The recipients of these tickets will win trips for two to China from TargetVacations.ca. "We're very excited about the buzz that this initiative is sure to create," said Walter Levitt, senior vice-president of marketing at CanWest MediaWorks. "By leading with this fun and creative concept, we've demonstrated that Global continues to reinvent the marketing of primetime."
