Under Armour, Sport Chek begin joint promotion

Athletic apparel company Under Armour and sports equipment retailer Sport Chek have begun a joint promotion called "Team UA Next Canada." The promotion takes the form of a contest for young athletes between the ages of seven and 12. Consumers can enter online at <http://www.teamuanextcanada.com> until Aug. 31 by submitting a video demonstrating the candidate competing and a description of why they will be a great athlete. The companies will also conduct a series of events in Laval, QC, Newmarket, ON and Toronto in August at which children can enter the contest by participating in physical challenges.

One male and one female winner will be selected to become brand spokespersons for Under Armour. They will receive a collection of the company's products and will participate in a national brand campaign at Sport Chek and Sports Experts stores.

"The Under Armour brand is synonymous with performance and excellence," said Frederick Lecoq, senior vice-president of marketing and electronic commerce at Sport Chek parent company FGL Sports. "At Sport Chek, we look to partner with iconic brands that dream big and can change the game. We believe in inspiring youth to live a healthy and active lifestyle, and this partnership with Under Armour will provide new opportunities for youth to achieve their athletic dreams."
