Canadian International Television Festival to debut in November

A new event called the Canadian International Television Festival will take place in Toronto on Nov. 16. The festival is intended to showcase new and returning English- and French-language Canadian television programs to broadcasters, advertisers, journalists and the public. It is being supported by Bell Media, the Canada Media Fund and the Canadian Media Production Association. Full episodes of programs will be exhibited at the TIFF Bell Lightbox theatre, as well as retrospectives, previews and short-form content. The event will also include cast reunions, question and answer sessions, script readings and other live activities. "Content made for television has become even more important to the multi-platform media world," said David Heath, a member of the festival's board of directors. "The CITF will become an annual event for creators to directly interact with consumers in a dynamic and supportive environment. Social TV does not get any more social than at a public festival."
