HARROD & MIRLIN PARTS WAYS WITH MOOSEHEAD

Toronto agency Harrod & Mirlin has dropped the Moosehead Breweries account after the Halifax outfit recently decided to launch an agency review, Harrod vice-president Eric Blais told Adnews yesterday. The falling out began in January, said Blais, when Harrod told Moosehead they were resigning the account due to "philosophical differences" with the brewery's new vice-president of marketing, John Brennan. "Moosehead president Derek Oland asked us in January to remain with them, so we did," Blais added. The decision to launch a review, however, was the final straw that led to Harrod's decision to part ways with the company, he said. Brennan claims that his four-member marketing team voted unanimously to discontinue Moosehead's relationship with Harrod after the agency refused to go along with the review. He added that a search is under way for a new agency and that a decision is expected by Sept. 30.
