Globe and Mail, Petro-Canada conduct Winning Words contest

The Globe and Mail and Petro-Canada have begun a contest promotion called "Winning Words." During the contest, which will run until Dec. 8, readers of the newspaper can enter by finding a word of the day in its pages and submitting it online at <http://www.globeandmail.com/winningwords>. In addition, 150,000 swipe cards will be distributed as inserts in the paper in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver, as well as by promotional workers at 10 Petro-Canada locations in Toronto and Vancouver. Each card is loaded with a credit of $2.50 that can be redeemed at a Petro-Canada location. When a registered card is swiped, the user will also be entered into the contest. The winner will receive a three-day trip for two to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Supporting advertising for the contest, developed by Naked Creative, includes print ads in the Globe and point-of-sale materials. The onsite sampling program is being managed by Newspaper Marketing Group.
