Rogers Wireless conducts Campus Battle 09

Rogers Wireless of Toronto is conducting an online marketing campaign called "Campus Battle 09," aimed at university students. The campaign, developed by The Hive of Toronto, consists of a Facebook page and application. During the campaign, 37 participating universities will compete to host a concert by rock band Death Cab for Cutie. Students at these schools can visit the contest site at <http://www.facebook.com/campusbattle> to download the application. Rogers customers can also enter via text message. The school that accumulates the most votes from its students will win the concert. "A key component of this campaign is the incentive we provide for students to invite their friends to get involved," said Trent Fulton, vice-president of client services at The Hive. "People who vote on Facebook receive an additional ballot in their name every time they send the voting app to one of their Facebook friends." The contest is being promoted with street-level activities at and around participating campuses, as well as local print advertising. The application was developed by Vortex Mobile.
