The National Football League has formed a sponsorship agreement with The Home Depot making the retailer the league’s exclusive home improvement sponsor in Canada. The agreement will run until March 2009. The Home Depot will gain Canadian category marketing rights to the league’s 32 teams, the NFL Kickoff, Playoffs, Super Bowl and Pro Bowl. According to the NFL, the ability for its sponsors to use team logos regionally without sponsoring individual teams is unique among sports leagues in Canada. “The National Football League has a very passionate fan base here in Canada, many of whom are also Home Depot customers,” said Jason West, marketing manager for NFL Canada. “We look forward to growing that customer base together.”
