Canadian Deposit Insurance Corporation breaks awareness campaign

The Ottawa-based Canadian Deposit Insurance Corporation has begun a national public awareness campaign intended to raise awareness of the organization’s $100,000 coverage limit. The campaign, which will run until the end of February, consists of television, print and Web advertising. In Quebec, the campaign is being conducted in association with the Autorité des marchés financiers. “With RRSP season underway, it’s the time of year when Canadians are thinking about their money and their investments,” said CDIC president and CEO Guy Saint-Pierre. “We hope this campaign will prompt consumers to think about whether or not their savings are protected by CDIC.” The federal Crown corporation provides insurance against the loss of deposits at its member banks, trust companies, loan companies and credit associations in the event of their failure.
