Sponsorship roundup

Videotron of Montreal has signed an agreement making its the presenting sponsor of the Just For Laughs Festival for the next three years. Videotron will also be the main broadcast distributor of the festival’s content and will participate in the content development process. These distribution channels will include the Illico Digital TV service, as well as the Internet and mobile phones. During the 2007 festival, which will take place in Montreal from July 8 to July 29, six French-language gala performances will be made available through the company’s video-on-demand service. The service will also carry reruns of other performances. In addition, Canal Vox will launch a new weekly program in the spring that will feature young comics. Videotron’s high-speed Internet customers will be able to access live webcasts of various shows. Cell phone customers will be able to view a series of humour capsules created during the event. “Videotron was an obvious choice as presenter of the Just For Laughs Festival,” said Gilbert Rozon, president of Group Juste pour rire. “As a global telecommunications company engaged in new media and multiple content distribution platforms, Videotron will not only help the festival maintain its success and increase its visibility, but will also enable us to distribute our content more widely.” Videotron is a subsidiary of Quebecor Media.
