Five-story anti-smoking banner to be unfurled in Toronto

MTV and the Ontario Ministry of Health will install a 50-foot-tall banner on the east side of the Masonic Temple, the specialty channel’s location, in downtown Toronto today. The banner is part of the ministry’s youth-oriented anti-smoking campaign “Stupid.ca.” The event will recreate a recent television ad from the campaign in which youth activists take control of media outlets to deliver an anti-smoking message. Musical group Silverstein will play at the event and members of the band will discuss the anti-smoking campaign with MTV hosts. The Stupid campaign was created by Bensimon Byrne. MTV in Canada is managed by CTV.
