Motorola Canada holds mobile movie contest

Motorola Canada has begun a contest promotion called "Speaking for Reel: Motorola's Mobile Movie Contest." The contest, which is being supported by the Toronto International Film Festival and Kids Help Phone, is aimed at film students in Canada. To enter, students must use a video-enabled mobile phone to create an original 60-second short film about a social issue that affects them. The contest includes separate categories for high school students and university and college students. The university and college group winner will become Motorola's "Official Filmmaker" for 2006. They will also receive access to various events at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival, along with a $5,000 bursary and film making products from Motorola. The high school winner will participate in a program called the Kids Help Phone School Tour and will receive a $1,000 bursary and a handset from Motorola. The contest began earlier this week and will run until May 12.
