CANADIAN TIRE SPONSORS SWIMMING PROGRAM
By Adnews Staff
Canadian Tire is sponsoring the new Canadian Red Cross AquaQuest water safety program for children, which was launched earlier this month. Canadian Tire will give the Red Cross over $1 million cash, along with marketing support. Water safety tips and information about the program will be featured on in-store materials and in catalogues, and also mailed out with customers' credit card statements. AquaQuest replaces the Pupil Training Program, more commonly known as the colors program. It focuses on water safety and swimming skills, just as the colors program did, but it also teaches injury prevention. According to the Red Cross, drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional death among Canadian children.
