ROGERS BOSS TO SIT ON SUN BOARD

Rogers Communications head Ted Rogers is joining the board of the Toronto Sun Publishing Corp., which last year doubled or tripled the bonuses it paid to several of its top executives. Rogers also wants one of his top executives to sit with him. At the Sun's April 23 annual meeting, shareholders will vote on a motion to increase the board by one seat, to make way for Rogers chairman Garfield Emerson. Rogers already controls the newspaper chain through Rogers Communications. Sun Corp. increased the total compensation it paid last year to chief executive Paul Godfrey by 46%. Toronto Sun publisher Hartley Steward's annual salary grew 28.4% and Financial Post publisher Doug Knight received an 11.7% jump in pay.
