Canada Post retains Rogers to make magazines for movers

Canada Post has selected Rogers Publishing of Toronto to produce a set of magazines aimed at Canadians who have recently moved. Canada Post issued a request for proposals from magazine publishers in September 2005. The new magazines will target the 1.2 million Canadians each year who register a change of address. The first publication will be a relaunch of Smartmoves magazine, known as Déménageur in Quebec. The weekly publication, produced in English and French, will be mailed to all Canadians who submit a change of address. The changes will include a larger size and distribution by addressed mail. The first issue will be released in early April. Rogers will also produce two home decor magazines that will focus on shopping for the home. One magazine will be published in English, the other in French. Both will debut in September and will be mailed to 250,000 households of the recently-moved in certain neighbourhoods. The publications, which will be issues six times per year, will also be sold on newsstands. "We are delighted that Canada Post selected Rogers as the publisher to work with on these magazines," said Rogers Publishing president Brian Segal. "They recognize the power of magazines to deliver information and ideas to consumers, and to be superb advertising vehicles for the marketers who want to reach them. These magazines will reach people at that critical time when they are looking for inspiration and guidance and making a broad range of major purchase decisions."
