RAGU ACCOUNT SWITCHES IN U.S.

The Van den Bergh Foods Company, a unit of British-based Unilever, has given its U.S. Ragu pasta sauces account to Ammirati & Puris/Lintas of New York. The account had been with J. Walter Thompson of New York for eight years. JWT's Toronto office handles Ragu in Canada but the agency doesn't have to worry, Thomas J. Lipton president Jim Benson told Adnews in an earlier interview. He said the review doesn't affect the Canadian AD assignment for Ragu, which is marketed in Canada by Lipton, also a unit of Unilever. Ammirati & Puris won the business in a competition with Ogilvy & Mather of New York and JWT.
