BAYER SWITCHES TO BBDO

Bayer Canada has decided to use BBDO Canada of Toronto for its advertising, but will keep SMW Advertising of Toronto on a project basis. Bayer of Germany consolidated almost all of its worldwide consumer care products with BBDO Worldwide of New York last month. The account includes brands such as Alka-Seltzer, Alka-Seltzer Plus, Autan, Bayer Aspirin, Baygon, Canesten and Philips Milk of Magnesia. BBDO will be used when Canada participates in a global strategy. If a project is specific to Canada, SMW will handle it. Bayer Canada spent $307,000 on national advertising in 1994, according to A.C. Nielsen estimates.
