Toronto Star hires Raitt, Blair

The Toronto Star has appointed Suzanne Raitt to the newly-created position of managing director of advertising effectiveness. She will work with the newspaper’s advertising staff and its clients with the goal of optimizing their advertising strategies. Raitt was previously vice-president of marketing at the Canadian Newspaper Association. She has also held senior marketing positions at A.C. Nielsen Marketing Research, Robin Hood Multifoods, Hershey Canada, Anderson Advertising, Saatchi & Saatchi and MacLaren McCann. Don Blair has been appointed manager of communications at the Toronto Star. Blair was previously the senior manager of corporate and government affairs at Kraft Canada. Prior to that, he spent four years at Bell Canada, most recently as associate director of marketing and business development. He has also worked as a consultant at GCI Group and as a communications specialist at Microcell Telecom.
