FRITO-LAY CHANGING CHIPS
By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Frito-Lay is launching a TV campaign on New Year's Day in the U.S. that has supermodels speaking up for low-fat Baked Lay's potato chips. Vendela, Naomi Campbell and Kathy Ireland are the examples backing the tag line "You can eat like one of the guys and still look like one of the girls." Frito-lay is also doing product sampling and sponsoring a float in the Rose Bowl parade. Advertising was created by BBDO Worldwide of New York. Baked Lay's aren't currently available in Canada and Frito-Lay officials were unavailable yesterday to comment on when they will cross the border. Frito-Lay's parent company, PepsiCo, is revamping its international operations. Its Lay's products are getting new packaging and ad campaigns, and standards are being raised overseas to produce higher quality goods. Baked Lay's is the first chip to be sold in the new packaging. Frito-Lay intends to change the names of many of its potato chip brands to Lay's.
