ASIAN BEERS HIT CANADIAN MARKET

Calgary-based United Beverage Distributors Canada is launching a Vietnamese beer in Ontario later this month called Saigon. Advertising created in-house will run in Toronto ethnic newspapers. Saigon will be sold in liquor stores and licensed establishments. It will hit B.C., Alberta and some U.S. markets in January. United Beverage will introduce an East Indian brew in February, the name of which the company is not revealing at the moment. United Beverage is licensed to market a line of Far East and East Indian specialty beers in North America. Banff Brewery in Calgary will make all the brews for United Beverage. Banff has been operating since May, making German-style ales and lagers. Currently, it brews White Horn Pilsner, Dancing Bear Pale Ale and Two Jack Ale, all sold in liquor stores and licensed outlets.
