GOVERNMENT BUSINESS UP FOR GRABS

Ad agencies have until Oct. 19 to go after the federal Department of Justice account which was put on the open bidding system this week. The department hasn't advertised in five years, so there is no incumbent agency. Separately, Industry Canada and Foreign Affairs and International Trade have compiled short lists for their accounts. Four agencies are battling it out for the Industry Canada account. They are The Gingko Group, Vickers & Benson Advertising and the Wolf Group, all of Toronto, and HB Social Marketing of Ottawa. Three agencies are vying for the Foreign Affairs and International Trade business. They are Axmith McIntyre Wicht and The Gingko Group, both of Toronto, and Groupe Everest Communication and Marketing Consultants of Montreal. The incumbent agency is Palmer-Jarvis Advertising of Vancouver.
