Air Canada, American Express reach loyalty agreement

Air Canada of Montreal has reached an agreement with American Express securing the credit card company’s participation in the airline’s new loyalty program. The 10-year agreement will begin when the new program launches in 2020. It includes the development of co-branded credit cards, participation in the American Express Membership Rewards program and expanded commercial cooperation between the companies, encompassing customer experience, digital integration and analytics.

“We’re excited to renew Air Canada’s long-standing relationship with American Express and reaffirm our position as its exclusive Canadian co-brand airline partner,” said Calin Rovinescu, president and CEO of Air Canada. “Amex is a global leader in premium payments, and this agreement will support the creation of new, world-class products for Air Canada’s industry-leading loyalty program launching in 2020.”
