Corus, Bell Media cancel specialty channel deal

The Commissioner of Competition has declined to approve the sale by Corus Entertainment of French-language specialty television channels Historia and Séries+ to Bell Media. The deal, first proposed in October 2017, was estimated to be worth $200 million. As a result, Corus and Bell Media have terminated their share purchase agreement. Séries+ specializes in locally-produced drama series, while Historia focuses on locally-produced documentaries, reality shows and dramas.
