CIBC begins Stand For Canada campaign

Toronto-based CIBC has begun a social media promotion called "Stand For Canada" tied to the 150th anniversary of Canada and of the bank. The initiative encourages consumers to help define the Canadian national identity by submitting descriptions of their own experiences via Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. The posts will be collected and displayed on a campaign website at <https://standforcanada.cibc.com>.
The campaign also includes a broadcast component conducted in association with the CBC, as well as a year-long social media campaign, digital and in-branch advertising and experiential activities.
"This digital time capsule allows everyone to be part of history so that future generations can reflect back on what we stand for today as a great nation," said Rob Assimakopoulos, chief marketing officer at CIBC. "CIBC has innovated banking for its clients for 150 years, and we are proud to bring this interactive campaign to help Canadians discover the country's sentiment around our shared pride. We are excited to help shape the narrative around our country's 150th birthday in a new way. By asking Canadians what they stand for, we are the authors of our country's own unique story."
