TVA Group forms promotional deal with Twitter

TVA Group of Montreal has formed a promotional agreement with Twitter Canada. According to the company, it is the first Quebec media company to strike such a deal with the social media site. Through the agreement, Twitter services Periscope and Twitter Mirror will be incorporated into two TVA programs: the final episode of La Voix last night and the opening of the 30th annual Gala Artis on April 26. Periscope is an application that allows users to share live video taken by their mobile device. Twitter Mirror can be used to generate animated images that can also be shared via social media.
"Quebecers have embraced social media to complement their personal experiences online," said Lindsay Lynch, head of television, entertainment and music at Twitter Canada. "As the social soundtrack to live television, Twitter allows users to engage in real-time conversations that extend far beyond their living rooms. The platform has found a spot in the homes of Quebecers as a second screen of choice for live television programs and we are excited to be working closely with TVA Group for the season finale of La Voix and the 30th anniversary of Gala Artis. TVA Group is a perfect example of how an organization can effectively use Twitter to enrich the television viewing experience."
TVA Group is a subsidiary of Quebecor Media.
