WPP launches government and public sector practice

WPP has launched a new global government and public sector practice. The practice is intended to provide a single point of access for government departments working with WPP agencies. Its services include communications for development, public policy and services, as well as public sector recruitment, country branding, tourism, trade and investment marketing and digital government initiatives. The practice will be led by Michelle Harrison, chief executive officer of United Kingdom-based social research agency TNS BMRB.

"This practice is timely because we are seeing a paradigm shift in the way governments think about the role of communications in delivering public policy," said Harrison. "Some of the most pressing problems of the 21st century will be best solved by government working in partnership with citizens to help them make the right choices. That puts deep citizen insight, human understanding and creativity at the heart of successful policymaking."

According to the company, WPP agencies currently work for the governments of approximately 60 countries, as well as for various regional and local governments.
