UNICEF Canada resumes greeting card contest

UNICEF Canada has resumed an annual contest promotion tied to the upcoming holiday season. Conducted in association with retail chain Pier 1 Imports and children's publisher Owlkids, the contest invites children under the age of 14 to submit a design for a greeting card based on the theme of "A Joyous Celebration." Submissions will be accepted until Nov. 25 at Pier1.ca, UNICEF.ca or Owlkids.com. The winning design will be used as UNICEF's official 2014 greeting card and will be sold nationally in Pier 1 stores. The winner will also receive a $5,000 scholarship and the winner's school will receive $500 in art supplies. Visitors to the Pier 1 website can also vote for a "Canadian Fan's Choice" award winner.
"Over the years, some of the best holiday cards have been designed by incredible youth," said David Morley, president and CEO of UNICEF Canada. "Each year, we are excited to see how these talented young artists will capture the spirit of the season. We are pleased to work with our generous partners, Pier 1 Imports and Owlkids, for another great year. All of the proceeds from the winning greeting card will support UNICEF's life-saving programs for the most vulnerable children in the hardest-to-reach areas."
