UNICEF resumes greeting card contest

Charitable organization UNICEF Canada has begun its annual greeting card design contest in association with retail chain Pier 1 Imports and children's book and magazine publisher Owlkids. Canadian consumers under the age of 14 can enter until Nov. 24 by submitting a hand-drawn card design illustrating the theme, "Spreading Holiday Cheer." The winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship and $500 in art supplies for their school. The winning design will be sold as UNICEF's official 2015 holiday greeting card at Pier 1 Imports stores nationally. Proceeds from the sale of the cards will support the organization's work supporting children internationally. In addition, visitors to the Pier1.ca website between Dec. 15 and Jan. 1 can vote for a Fan's Choice Award winner, who will receive $500 in art supplies.

"Each year, we see a wide range of creative designs from talented children across the country and I can't wait to see this year's selection," said David Morley, president and CEO of UNICEF Canada. "Our annual greeting card contest with Pier 1 Imports provides Canadian children with a unique opportunity to showcase their creativity while helping to create a brighter future for the world's most vulnerable children."
