Subway conducts Disney marathon campaign

Sandwich chain Subway Canada has begun a new campaign tied to its participation in the upcoming Walt Disney World Marathon. The campaign will follow Carl Savard, a spokesperson for the chain's "Commit to Fit" program, as he trains for the race that will take place on Jan. 12, 2014. The promotion will include a four-part series on AOL.ca that will follow this process. Consumers will also be encouraged to express their support for Savard through a Facebook component called the "Carl's #1 Fan Contest." Participants will be entered into a draw for one of six running-themed prize packages.
"Since becoming our Commit to Fit Ambassador in 2011, Carl has been increasingly dedicated to his healthier lifestyle and we wanted to give him a fresh challenge," said Kathleen Bell, director of national marketing for Subway Restaurants in Canada. "At Subway, we're proud to fuel Canadians' healthy, active lifestyle, and our 'Road to RunDisney' campaign demonstrates this. We also hope to highlight how everyday Canadians, like Carl, can achieve goals they may have thought would never be possible."
