Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association conducts campaign

The Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association is conducting a campaign called "Housing Opens Doors," intended to raise awareness of the need for affordable housing in the province. The campaign, developed by Manifest of Toronto, takes the form of a traveling installation featuring a series of free-standing doors that open to reveal depictions of the benefits of affordable housing to a community. Each door is equipped with a doorbell which, when pressed, rings a bell at the project's website, <http://www.housingopensdoors.ca>. The goal of the effort is to reach 156,358 rings, representing the number of households currently on a waiting list for affordable housing in Ontario. The campaign will run through June and will stop in Toronto, Ottawa, North Bay and Windsor. It also includes social media activities and public relations, conducted by Weber Shandwick. "Housing is the home of all issues," said Jim Diorio, chief idea officer at Manifest. "But you rarely hear about the amazing benefits of affordable housing, so we wanted to help people discover them one by one, then show their support in a fun and innovative way."
