Expedia.ca conducts World Juniors contest campaign

Online travel company Expedia.ca has renewed its sponsorship of the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship for a second year. As part of its sponsorship, the company has begun a campaign called "Take the Passion with You." The initiative will send a group of contest winners to the Finest Playa Mujeres resort in Cancun, Mexico to watch the tournament, which will take place in Finland from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5. For the duration of the event, the resort will be decorated as the Expedia.ca Hockey Hotel.

Consumers could enter the contest online at <http://www.expedia.ca/hockeyhotel>. Ten winners will receive trips for two to the resort from Dec. 27 to Jan. 6. One additional winner will receive a trip for two to the resort from Jan. 4 to 11 to watch the gold medal game.

Expedia.ca has also formed an agreement with TSN to create content from the resort that will be broadcast during the broadcaster's coverage of the tournament.

"With 'Take the Passion with You,' we wanted to again speak to the pride we all share for being hockey fans and cheering on our team at the World Juniors," said Christopher Day, senior director of marketing at Expedia Canada. "Expedia.ca knows that Canadians fly south to escape winter and we wanted to help them enjoy the tournament, even if they find themselves away from home. The Expedia.ca Hockey Hotel is our manifestation of that experience. We've created the ultimate hockey destination in Cancun where Canadians can come together to celebrate their passion for Canada's favourite holiday hockey tradition, only this time beach-side."
