ING Direct conducts Canadian Superstar Saver Search

Toronto-based bank ING Direct has begun an online contest promotion called the "Canadian Superstar Saver Search." The contest invites consumers to submit online videos of inventive ways they save money. Three-minute videos can be uploaded to the bank's YouTube page until May 30. The company will then select 10 English-language finalists and 10 finalists in French. Public voting will take place from June 2 to June 15 to determine one winner from each language category. Each winner will receive $10,000 in an ING Direct Investment Savings Account. Two second-place finishers will receive $3,000 each, while two third-place finishers will receive $2,000 each. The contest is being promoted with a series of online example videos, as well as a music video by the band Walk Off The Earth performing the Madonna song "Material Girl." "We want to help Canadians live better lives by changing the conversation about money and there is no better, more interactive way to do that than with a contest like this," said Andrew Zimakas, chief marketing officer at ING Direct. "The Canadian Superstar Saver Search, which was a big success in 2007, is a unique way for us to encourage and reward creative saving ideas and to inspire Canadians to save their money." ING Bank of Canada is a subsidiary of Scotiabank.
