AOL Canada launches new video service

AOL Canada has launched its online video service AOL On in Canada. The site, located at <http://on.aol.ca>, offers a collection of 500,000 videos, including content specific to Canada, which can be views on desktop computers, tablets, smartphones or connected television sets. The videos are divided into 17 channels, such as News, Entertainment, Style, Health, Autos, Business and Tech. According to the company, AOL On delivers 169 million video streams per month to 7.8 million unique visitors. "The launch of AOL On Canada comes at an incredible time for online digital media, with increasing demand of online video from advertisers and with consumers accessing online video at a rising rate this new product only furthers our commitment to the online video experience," said Rashida Jeeva, general manager of AOL On Canada. American Express Canada has signed-on as the exclusive advertiser for the launch period. Media buying for this campaign was handled by Mindshare. AOL On is being promoted with an advertising campaign that includes a series of four commercials called "On Screen." These ads will run during the pre-show display at Cineplex theatres beginning March 1.
