Dairy Farmers of Canada prepares fifth Cheese Rolling Festival

Dairy Farmers of Canada will conduct another "Canadian Cheese Rolling Festival" event on Aug. 18 at Whistler, BC. This will be the fifth annual installment of the promotion, during which contestants will chase a large wheel of cheese rolling down a hill. The event will consist of seven men's and four women's races, with the winner from each round progressing to the finals. The winner will receive the cheese wheels, which this year will be 11-pound pieces of Cracked Pepper Verdelait produced by Natural Pastures of BC, as well as a Whistler season ski pass for two. The event this year will also include a costume contest, the winner of which will receive a $500 gift voucher from a local restaurant. The initiative will also include various activities and promotions in the days preceeding the races. "The Canadian Cheese Rolling Festival is back in Whistler for an exciting fifth year," said Solange Heiss, assistant director of marketing and nutrition communications at Dairy Farmers of Canada. "We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with cheese-loving Canadians and visitors from all over the world. It's a great activity for the entire family and a fantastic way to showcase the amazing cheeses this country has to offer."
