The Toronto-based Canadian Public Relations Society distributed its annual awards recognizing accomplishment within the PR industry last week. The following organizations received Gold awards: Spire Public Relations of Vancouver in the marketing communications category; MT&L Public Relations of Halifax in the community relations category; Environics Communications of Toronto in the media relations category; GolinHarris of Toronto in the media relations category; the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan of Toronto in the issues or crisis management category; Argyle Communications of Toronto in the special events category; Thornley Fallis of Toronto in the multimedia category; the Ontario Ministry of Environment in the print category; Bombardier Aéronautique of Montreal in the electronic and social media category; and Broad Reach Communications of Toronto in the writing category. "Public relations practitioners from across Canada do tremendous work for their organizations each and every day," said Richard Truscott, national president of the society. "Presenting the Awards of Excellence each year to deserving professionals is the society's way of acknowledging the communications work they've done for a particular campaign or cause."
