Newad to appeal Superior Court of Quebec Rouge Media decision

Following the dismissal by the Superior Court of Quebec of injunctive proceedings brought by Newad Media against Rouge Media Group, Newad has announced its intention to take its case to the Quebec Court of Appeals. Newad maintains that it has complete exclusivity on any and all advertising vehicles in the establishments with which it holds a licensed contract. The Superior Court ruled last week that the exclusivity claimed by Newad is limited to the nature of the product it markets, which are different than those marketed by Rouge. "Newad will appeal because we believe that Rouge's practices, and those of its affiliates, are questionable," said Martine Desjardins, chief legal officer at Newad. "We are known for always being the first to encourage healthy competition, provided that it respects the industry's rights, agreements, and norms. Rouge has been found breaching these rights." "In terms of operations, Newad will continue to enforce its rights to exclusivity in its indoor advertising network," said Newad president and CEO Michael Reha.
