Quebec Superior Court rules against Power Medias

The Superior Court of Quebec for the district of Montreal has issued a permanent injunction against out-of-home media company Power Medias. The company will be required to remove a number of display screens installed in locations that have signed exclusive advertising agreements with Newad. The digital screens are part of hand-drying machines in various restaurants, nightclubs and other venues. The judgment also states that Power Medias shall not form any future agreements with establishments that have signed-up with Newad. "This judgment is really important as it recognizes and reinforces our exclusive advertising rights within the establishments and venues that are part of our networks," said Martine Desjardins, vice-president of legal affairs and corporate development at Newad. "Indoor advertising is a well established and respected media and it is important that all the players in the industry respect competitors' agreements."
