Future Shop, David Suzuki Foundation ready pair of green contests

Electronics retailer Future Shop, based in Burnaby, BC, has prepared two online campaigns in association with the David Suzuki Foundation that are intended to encourage consumers to save electricity and make more environmentally-conscious choices at their homes and workplaces. The first initiative, called "Future Shop's Acts of Green Contest," invites Canadians to submit a description of what they are doing to help the environment to <http://www.futureshop.ca/greencontest>. For each entry, the company will donate one dollar to the foundation. The winner will receive a $1,000 Future Shop gift card. The contest will close on Earth Day, April 22. The second campaign, called the "David Suzuki's Amazing Workplace Race," will begin on April 20. Employees at participating companies can enter to win prizes donated by Future Shop by describing online something they are doing in the workplace to benefit the environment. The entries will be tracked with a system developed by the foundation and Good Energy. "Future Shop and the David Suzuki Foundation are leveraging the strengths of our two organizations to offer information to as many Canadians as possible in order to promote environmental awareness and action," said Todd Empey, operations vice-president at Future Shop. "Solutions to environmental problems will be found only when we start working together to promote change."
