Aeroplan resumes Match Weeks initiative

Montreal-based Aeroplan has resumed a charitable initiative called "Aeroplan Match Weeks." During this promotion, the loyalty program will match all donations from program participants to eight charitable organizations. The first charity to receive a week of matching donations will be the Stephen Lewis Foundation. In March, donations to the David Suzuki Foundation will be matched, followed by Doctors Without Borders in April and MusiCounts in May. Additional beneficiaries later in the year will include Engineers Without Borders, War Child Canada, Veterinarians Without Borders and the Air Canada Foundation.

"We're passionate about helping our members connect with the people and places that matter most," said Anne-Josee Laquerre, director of social purpose and sustainability at Aeroplan. "For more than 10 years, our Aeroplan member donation program has made it possible for members to give back to causes that are close to their hearts. Last year, our members' donations, combined with our matching miles, resulted in more than 20 million miles donated during our Match Weeks. Our partner charities use the miles to offset travel costs including flights, hotel accommodation and car rentals to help achieve their mission here in Canada and in communities across the world."

Aeroplan is owned by Aimia.
